Silver: Silverwork in Oman dates to at least the 1st millenium BC and is among the most diverse of Oman's traditional crafts. The range of silver products includes household items, weapon embellishment, jewellery and articles of adornment, personal implements, horse and camel trappings, and items for ceremonial use. Silver is also among the most visual and highly valued of Oman's traditional crafts, indicating status and tribal affiliation, and affirming religious belief. As the metal of the Prophet (May Peace and Blessings be Upon Him), silver carries a protection from evil. Silversmiths continue to practise their craft in Nizwa, Bahla, and other towns of the interior as well as in the capital area, Muscat.
